Grand Total

Hello for the last time.

Thank you to everyone who bought throws, shouted our little competition from the rooftops and wished us well.

A very big big thank you to everyone who knitted, felted and crocheted squares.  Without your amazing creative efforts and time, not to mention the money you spent, none of this would have been possible.

Another big thank you to Elaine and Mum for helping me crochet the squares together.

And now...... with out further ado......... the grand total we raised for the Andover Riding for the Disabled is........

£256

The RDA are going to use this money to buy a much needed new saddle for one of their horses.

Thanks again for making this whole project a success.

Throw number three

This is one of my favourites.  The yarn for it is all hand spun, and the colours are gorgeous.

Throw number two

We did our measuring on Thursday and reached 52 metres down the wall.  We had lots of fun stretching and fine tuning the line up, and were helped by Maggie's Home Ed group.  We had lots of encouragement from passing lorries and cars, who assumed we were protesting about something! Thank you to everyone who helped measure.

This is the next throw to be auctioned. Throw number 2 for those of you interested in placing a bid.  Email you bid and contact details to info@beakerbutton.co.uk
The more bids we get, the higher the price and the more money Andover Riding for Disabled gets.

The first throw is made

We sorted the squares, marvelling yet again at how creative you all are, and we have started the long work of making them into throws.  Several, including the three winners, will work better as stand alone pieces, and will be shown in the next few weeks.  This is throw number 1.  Anyone wanting to put a bid please email info@beakerbutton.co.uk with your bid and contact details.  The auction is on the 22nd and 23rd September.  The throw measures 1.5m x 1m and is a right old mixture of fibres.  We think it's lovely, and it's very warm as a wrap, or would look lovely on the back of the sofa.

We have WINNERS

So, we have three very talented winners of the Wool for the Wall competition, photos of the winning squares are below.  Before I name them though I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported us and the RDA with squares.  We are going to spend the next two weeks making the squares into throws and then do the big measure against the wall on the 30th August.  If anyone is free that day we'd love it if you could come and watch or even help measure.  And then we'll be auctioning off the throws in a silent auction at our Michaelmas Fair 22nd and 23rd September.  I'll post photos of the throws on the blog for people to look at in early September.  Anyone wanting to make a bid please email info@beakerbutton.co.uk

So below are the winners.  Congratulations to all three.

1st place Catherine Graham-Evans
(for more of Catherine's gorgeous stuff, check out her newly opened Etsy shop here)http://www.etsy.com/shop/Yarnlark?ref=pr_shop_more

2nd place Annette Hobbs

3rd place Katie Penlington

More square news

We are nearly at the end for those of you who want to get your squares in, but we've extended the deadline and will except squares in until the middle of august.  This gives you all a little more time.

I love this square, brought in last week, so I'm sharing only one today.  I'll post more next week.

last month to get your squares in

OK.  July is now here and we are in the last month for Wool for the Wall.  It's still 30 days really but that isn't as long as you think so get clacking for a chance to win beaker Button goodies and help raise money for Andover Riding for Disabled.

Here are some of the latest. I got arty with the photo, enjoy.

More squares thanks everyone.

This is a little late, I'm sorry.  It's amazing how time gets away from you.  Here is a selection of the latest squares.  We still need loads more so if you want to help raise money for Andover Riding for Disabled and be in with the chance of winning £100 to spend in the shop, on wool or workshops or buttons for example, send us your squares before the end of July.  Keep up the good work folks.

Woolfor the Wall update

More squares.  That leaves 538 to go.  We're getting there.  Well done and keep it up.

Elaine's second square.  Amazing how far a ball of horrible acrylic goes (I like the clolours, but I'm an all natural girl ;)

The next two are Sarah Davis, our most prolific square maker so far (by 1 square).  Well done, keep it up.  Sarah is willing to be sponsored to make squares!

More Squares

We have two more squares for the wall.  That leaves only 541 to go.  Keep on clacking with the needles!

Abotts Ann ride and WFTW update

No new squares this week but I'm sure you're all working hard on them.  I'm really looking forward to seeing the ideas you've come up with.

This is the promised photos of Archie and me on the Abbots Ann fun ride, also in support of the Andover RDA.  We rode 12 miles, at a mixture of walk, trot and canter, and we thoroughly enjoyed it, despite the rain.  There were various challenges around the course, from hanging out washing (which I don't do well at the best of times, let alone while riding a horse) to picking up litter (which we were much better at).  My favourite bits were the bluebell woods and the donuts at the end!  Archie's favourite bit was the grass when we'd finished.  This is the first time Archie and I have ridden in anything official and we are very proud of our participants rosette.

Keep those squares coming.  We still need 543 to fill the wall.

  Bluebells galore
